Coir substrates are made from the Coconut husk of the Palm tree (Cocos Nucifera L.). The Palm tree can produce around 120 Coconuts every year for 60 years or more, making Coir substrates 100% renewable products.

Forests , swamps and other nature preserves do not have to be stripped and mines do not have to be built to get the raw material for our products.

The preservation of trees automatically contributes to the Carbon footprint / CO2 friendliness of our Coir products. The more Coconut based substrates are used, the more trees will be cultivated and planted for the Coconut husk.

Full utilization of the Coconut

The food and pharmaceutical industries are using the hard inner nut, the outside husk is processed in the Fibre industry or directly at our Coir substrate factories. At the fibre mills the fibre is separated from the Coir powder, the raw material for our Cocopeat products.

The coconut is used 100%, making it a highly renewable product, thus proving coir substrates to be a very environmental friendly product.

Effluent Treatment Plants

All our production locations are equipped with Effluent Treatment Plants and RO systems. The processed water is treated in the ETP for re-use in the wet-process or for irrigation at our own plantations. Thus we are able to minimize the use of water during the production of our coir substrates.

Transport

Even after full de-hydration, Coir substrates can be easily hydrated again. This unique feature enables us to dry our products and compress it to reduce the volume that will be transported. With the standard compression rate we can ship five times the volume of Coir substrate in one shipment.

Once the products reach the destination users can simply add water to re-hydrate and expand the products to its original volumes.
