The advantage of coconut substrate is manifold- it is 100% organic, its renewable, offers good drainage, with a high water holding capacity, can accelerate root growth and most importantly, relatively affordable.

Chemical

The Elfferich Coir substrates are fully chemically balanced products. We are specialists in supplying the premium quality Coir products, both washed and Calcium treated qualities.

Physical

Coir products have excellent water retention, holding up-to 8 times its own weight in water. It has the capability to absorb water, even after complete de-hydration, but at the same time it will also drain out water easily when the substrate is fully saturated. This property enables the user to achieve and maintain the ideal Water : Air ratio in the substrate that is needed for his cultivation/crop.

Coir substrates are ideal products to use as 100% substrates or to use in mixes with other (organic) materials like peatmoss. Coir substrates are also working perfectly as soil enricher, viz. you can mix Coir Substrates into the soil to improve the moisture content (water retention) and at the same time improve the organic matter or humus content.

Sanitary

Our almost 30 years’ experience in raw material procurement enables us to select only the best plantations for supplying our factories. We have full control on the raw material chain from start to finish and we only allow clean and pure coir raw materials in our factories. This way we can supply our customers with clean Coir substrates.

Stability

Our Coir substrates comply to the highest standards. Despite its organic nature the Coir Substrates will not decompose (in normal circumstances) for at least 5 years or more.

Our RHP certified and Sedex certified production locations are visited by International Independent Accredited Audit companies like IMO (Swiss based Auditing company), ECAS (Dutch based Horti/Agri culture Auditing company) and RHP (Dutch based foundation Regeling HandelsPotgronden) at least four times per year to guarantee the quality and safety of our products. Along with these certifications, we also take care that every worker in our locations and at our suppliers are guaranteed with a safe work environment, in a sustainable environment, preserving the world for future generations.
